Creativity vs Innovation

Are you Creative or are you Innovative?

We often hear about the importance of innovation and the need for creative solutions to problems. But what does creativity and innovation really mean?

Creativity is our ability to solve problems with novel ideas. The key factor on creativity is the generation of new ideas – the act of conceiving something original or unusual.

Innovation on the other hand is the implementation or creation of something new that has realized value to others. Innovation is not necessarily the creation of something no one has ever created before, but it can be as simple as improving upon something that exists or combining the use of two products and creating value for the user in a new way.

Creativity is the novel step of being the first to identify that something might be possible in the first place. But innovation is the action of putting things into practical reality, despite challenges and resistance, rather than just contemplating.
